Fill the Bus
In December of 2010, the Stittsville Food Bank once again participated in the City-wide Fill-the-Bus Christmas Food Drive sponsored by Loblaws and OC-Transpo. Two volunteer drivers arrived with an OC bus that parked in front of Brown's Independent Grocers from 9am to 5pm. A number of food bank volunteers and local students spent the day handing out fliers that outlined items most needed, loaded and sorted the donations and returned to the food bank to unload the 9,000+ food items donated by the generous citizens of Stittsville. As well there was almost $2,000 in cash donated.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS:
Christmas Hamper Program
Every year the Stittsville Food Bank holds a Christmas hamper program to help clients celebrate the holidays. Our volunteers receive donations, assemble the hampers and arrange for the distribution of festive food items, a food voucher, and gifts for children (16 years and younger). The childrens gifts are donated by members of local churches.
Easter and Thanksgiving Programs
The Food Bank provides grocery gift cards to families at Easter time and Thanksgiving. These gift cards are in amounts proportional to the size of each family and can be used for any non-taxable items.
