Our MissionThe Stittsville Food Bank provides emergency assistance to those in need of food in our community, which includes the villages of Stittsville and Ashton and rural areas of Goulbourn. We distribute non-perishable foods, grocery store coupons and perishable foods when available (meat, eggs, dairy, fruit, vegetables). The Stittsville Food Bank is run entirely by volunteers and has been in operation since 1992. Demand for AssistanceEvery month there are 60 families who receive assistance from the Stittsville Food Bank. In December 2009, 108 families received a Christmas hamper. In October, 55 families received vouchers for Thanksgiving, Earlier in the year, vouchers were provided to 55 area families as part of the Easter program. Member OrganizationThe Stittsville Food Bank is a member agency of The Ottawa Food Bank (which serves the Ottawa area). We would like to thank The Ottawa Food Bank for their ongoing support. We have about 40 volunteers who collect, organize and distribute the donated food and 11 members on the Board of Directors. The Board meets about once each month, with an Annual General Meeting in May. Members of the current Board:
