Programs and Events

Every year on the first Saturday of December, OC Transpo and Loblaws Canada work together to hold a Fill the Bus food drive. Browns Independent Grocers on Stittsville Main Street invite OC Transpo to park one of their buses in front of the store between 9am and 5pm, while dozens of volunteers hand out information pamphlets, accept food items and cash, and sort and pack the food donations. This has become an important means of helping the Stittsville Food Bank acquire food items for our Christmas Hamper Program.

Every year the Stittsville Food bank holds a Christmas Hamper Program to help our clients celebrate the holidays. Our volunteers receive donations, assemble the hampers and arrange for the distribution of festive food items, and something for children 16 years and younger. We are fortunate to have Holy Spirit Catholic Church and St. Thomas Anglican church support the children during the Christmas season with their Angel trees. Also we are fortunate to have Waterdon Construction, Alloy Fabrication and Merlin Door Systems with a donation to make Christmas special for children. We thank everyone for making Christmas special for others.
